RØYST - eller Bodil sluttar med innestemme"

- COSTUME MAKING -
- 2021 -

I was brought on as Silje Sandoddens Kise's assistant  to help create the costumes for Bodil Lunde Rørtveits' one woman show "RØYST - Eller Bodil sluttar med innestemme"

The show has scenography and costume design by Silje S. Kise. I was brought on to help realise her designs as her assistant costume maker.
The most challenging and interesting experience when making for this production, was creating a dress - made from pinecones. Silje found that the best way to get the shape of the dress and the cones to hold was steel wire and thin rope tied around the cones. She started on the ground structure for the dress. The skirt consisted of a crinoline created of thicker steel wire. I helped Silje tie all cones together, and I made an under-dress that could fasten and hold the dress. Bodil had to be able to get into the dress on her own, as this was a change that happened on stage.

The show centered around Bodils' journey as a climate activist and artist in our society today. Because the theme was climate centered, Silje made a point to make the production of scenography and costumes as environmental friendly as possible. The cones were picked on hikes in the forest, and most of the costumes were second-hand garments that were redesigned.
